Why Time Zone Matters
Your time zone setting affects how Borg Backup Server displays times throughout the application:
- Backup schedules — When scheduled backups run (e.g., "2:00 AM" means 2:00 AM in your configured time zone)
- Activity logs — Timestamps on backup job entries, errors, and events
- Email reports — When daily/weekly reports are sent
- Archive timestamps — When archives were created, displayed in your local time
Setting Your Time Zone
Navigate to Profile → Time Zone and select your time zone from the dropdown. The list includes all standard IANA time zones (e.g., America/New_York, Europe/London, Asia/Tokyo).

Tip: If you manage servers in multiple time zones, set your time zone to your primary working location. All backup schedule times will be relative to this setting.
Default Time Zone
New accounts default to the server's configured time zone (typically UTC). It's recommended to update this to your local time zone during initial setup so that backup schedules and logs are immediately meaningful.
